Birthday Greeting from family in Brunei

For A Daughter Who Means So Much,
If only you could know
how wonderful it is
to have a daughter like you.
It's always meant so much to us
to see your smile,
to listen to your ideas,
to watch you grow and learn
and become your own person.
If only you couls realize
how many special memories
you've made for us...
How many times
we've been so proud to say,
"That's our daughter..."
You're such an important part
of our lives.
We love you so very much.
Happy Birthday, Wonderful You.
Love always,
Daddy & Mummy
******************************************
For My Sister,
It's funny how,
when you're growing up,
you somehow know
that it's neat having a sister,
but you're not always sure
exactly why...
Now I understand
that it's because a sister
is always there for you...
She accepts you just as you are
and always wants
the best for you.
I want you to know
just how often I thank God
for putting you in my life.
You're all the wonderful things
a sister should be.
Happy Birthday, sis...
Love from:
Irah, Nina, Tiyah, Ridhwan

Christmas Holiday

Christmas Holiday has begun...

Arriving at Marlebone around 9ish. Nasib jua dapat bilik. Sebilik with the seniors - Nisah, Des, Didin, Dijah - and two other friends of theirs, Yuni and Maisarah (hopefully I didn’t misspell any name)

***
18th Dec,

Lyn, Melvin and Syarifah have the chance to spend Christmas holiday back in Brunei. Envy them so much... hehe. It’s ok. Bon voyage, guys... see you in 20 days.

Today is our 100th day in UK. Celebrate? Nope. Not all eight of us staying here in London - only me, Lena and Zaw.

Anyhow, we went for lunch together at Bonda and then sasat... Sasat to Bayswater, High Street, Nothing Hill Gate, Marble Arch...

We didn’t plan to go anywhere actually. We just named random places once we reached underground station. It’s so random that once in the Tube, we asked “Where are we heading?” and “Where are we stopping again?” quite often.

Lena described it as an adventure. We DEFINITELY got our adventure. We went sightseeing around London. Only the three of us know exactly what I mean. Right guys? xD

We had our dinner at Pizza Hut. Banyak cerita kami. Some of the questions that popped out are:

  • How our life will be after A-Level?
  • Are we still friends by then?
  • Can we still laugh together?

Anyway, we came up with this theory: “our friendship is like Graphite”. What?? Hahaha....xD

Explaination:

The lower 6 Bruneians and the upper 6 Bruneians are 2 separate layers of Graphite but held together by an intermolecular force (Van der Waals’ forces). Within the layers, the bonds are stronger. C Nadh since ia rapat with both us and the seniors, she can be the delocalised electons.

Hahahaha...... Udah udah... Stop... Adakah Chemistry dibawa2. :S

After dinner, kami liat wayang. Madagascar 2. And after that kami tunggu arh bus stop dapan Odeon.

Then... This story will terminate here...

***

19th Dec:

Again, no plan at all. Tapi, the seniors kan bawa kami ke London zoo. We left BH around 2.30ish I think, arriving at the zoo at 3.20. Opss...too late, last admission is suppose to be at 3. But they let us in anyway. Well, some of us... Me, Des, Lena and Zaw inda jadi masuk so kami jalan2 arah parknya and shopping~ xD

Around 8.45, liat wayang lagi~ Twilight! I bet Zaw and Lena will start reading the book anytime soon. See guys, now you know why at times I laugh all of sudden while reading.

***
20th Dec:

Nothing much... Stay in BH, studying and doing prep. Library BH, not too bad. At least it’s quiet. That’s what I’m after.

Tomorrow, Bengkel Asas Kounseling for A-Level scheme students. Where will it be? I don’t know. None of us had the slightest idea. We’ll figure out where eventually.

No one better than another

Ms Scott decide it’s just fair to choose the school team based on a test. The competition was between me, Yi Lyn (my roomie) and Toyin. Each of us was given 10 questions and time limit of 30 minutes. Based on our scores, the best two will be joining the school team for Senior Team Maths Challenge.

But...
Guess what happen...
Guess our result...
We all score 2 out of 10. Yes, I mean ALL! Wow, draw... hahaha... All the marks turn out to be levelled, including the yr 13 team members.
So, Ms Scott decided the yr 13 should just pull two names out of hat. Her intention is so that we can blame them if we’re not chosen. Berakal Miss aa..xD
Anyway, Lyn and I got to be in the team (I got it by PURE luck...)
And rupanya, last year, similar things happened. I guess that means one thing, we are all on the same level; no one better than another. Right?
The regional UKMT Senior Team Mathematics Challenge 2008 will be on 4th of December, at University of Wolverhampton. Wish us luck...

DOE gold award, date of enrolment: 11/11/08, Remembrance Day. They spell my name wrongly...again!
‘Nor Roslan’
Huh?? Sejak bila namaku betukar?
Hmm... Next time, remind me to just write Akmaliah Roslan. That way, they won’t miss out anything.
Oh wait... They did miss out something. My name tags, my laundry name tags turn out to be ‘Akmalia Roslan’. Aduh... Antamlah.

Self Management

Today’s PSHE was about self management. We were told it was something on making choices. The first thing came to my mind was ‘degree choice’ or something similar.

Then again...

Nope, that’s not it. It’s on alcohol and substance usage. :S

Hey, it doesn’t concern us, right? So almost the whole time, my mind wondered off; preoccupied at times.

There’s one thing that caught my attention. It went like this...

Speaker: If you were given alcohol and cocaine, don’t take both.
(Yes, I agree.)
Speaker: Just take either one.
(Huh?? :S)

Why are they encouraging? Weird...

Regardless of all the craps she said, I’ll surely keep my distance from those addictive substance.

Neway, I’m getting slightly better at badminton...hahaha...NOT!

Tiyah, congratulation for getting outstanding PSR result.
Proud of you, sis....

Bowh Rah.... your result next.

FIRE DRILL!!

We had fire drill yesterday~
Wait... Let me rephrase that. We had fire drill yesterday at DAWN. And I thought it’s one of those false alarms. But the deafening alarm continued. It was 6.50am.

Aduh, Orang kan tidur wah... -_-'

I managed to get my tudung on before assemble in front of the Lower School Building. But kesian all those who were in the shower, they had to go out in the cold wearing bathrobe. Kesian kan Zaw? :P

Anyhow, I learn something out of it. Just a note to myself:

  • Put a pair of shoe near the bed.
  • Place a jacket / dressing gown (a thick one) somewhere easier to reach.
  • And tudung too.

But I had nothing to worry about ... at least for now. Mrs Stonehill told us that’s enough for this term. Another fire drill will be sometime next term.

Enough of that story.

To Noorul Izzah Abdul Salam, yes...I’ve just updated it. Sorry it took so long. I don’t have any story to tell. There’s nothing interesting happen. =S To me, all seems like normal routine already.

More update to come. O yea, I haven’t post any picture. Will do it later today or tomorrow... Maybe... If I’m not that busy that is.

Later... =)

Must Read Poem

I just have to share this poem. So nice, so sweet, so touching. Read it to prove I'm right.

===========
BEING A MOTHER...
After 17 years of marriage, my wife wanted me to
take another woman out to dinner and a movie. She
said, 'I love you, but I know this other woman loves
you and would love to spend some time with you.'
* * *
The other woman that my wife wanted me to visit
was my MOTHER, who has been alone for 20 years,
but the demands of my work and my two boys had
made it possible to visit her only occasionally.
* * *
That night I called to invite her to go out for
dinner and a movie.
* * *
'What's wrong, aren't you well,' she asked?
* * *
My mother is the type of woman who suspects that a
late night call or a surprise invitation is a sign
of bad news.
* * *
'I thought it would be pleasant to spend some
time with you,' I responded. 'Just the two of us.'
She thought about it for a moment, and then said,
'I would like that very much.'
* * *
That Friday after work, as I drove over to pick her up
I was a bit nervous. When I arrived at her
house, I noticed that she, too, seemed to be nervous
about our date. She waited in the door.
She had curled her hair and was wearing the dress
that she had worn to celebrate her last
birthday on November 19th.
* * *
She smiled from a face that was as radiant as an
angel's. 'I told my friends that I was going to go
out with my son, and they were impressed,' she said,
as she got into that new white van. 'They can't wait to hear about our date'.
* * *
We went to a restaurant that, although not
elegant, was very nice and cozy. My mother took my
arm as if she was the First Lady. After we sat
down, I had to read the menu. Her eyes could only
read large prints. Half way through the entries, I
lifted my eyes and saw Mom sitting there staring at
me. A nostalgic smile was on her lips. 'It was I
who used to have to read the menu when you were
small,' she said. 'Then it's time that you relax and
let me return the favor,' I responded.
* * *
During the dinner, we had an agreeable conversation
-nothing extraordinary but catching upon recent events
of each other's life. We talked somuch that we missed the movie.
* * *
As we arrived at her house later, she said, 'I'll
go out with you again, but only if you let me invite
you.' I agreed.
* * *
'How was your dinner date ?' asked my wife when I
got home. 'Very nice. Much more so than I could have imagined,' I answered.
* * *
A few days later, my mother died of a massive
heart attack. It happened so suddenly that I didn't
have a chance to do anything for her.
* * *
Some time later, I received an envelope with a
copy of a restaurant receipt from the same place
mother and I had dined. An attached note said: 'I
paid this bill in advance. I wasn't sure that I
could be there; but nevertheless, I paid for two plates
- one for you and the other for your wife.
You will never know what that night meant for me. I
love you, son.'
* * *
At that moment, I understood the importance of
saying in time: 'I LOVE YOU' and to give our loved
ones the time that they deserve. Nothing in life is
more important than your family. Give them the time
they deserve, because these things cannot be put off
till 'some other time.'
* * *
Somebody said it takes about 6 weeks to get back
to normal after you've had a baby.... somebody
doesn't know that once you're a mother, 'normal' is history.
* * *
Somebody said you learn how to be a mother by
instinct... somebody never took a three-year-old shopping.
* * *
Somebody said being a mother is boring....
somebody never rode in a car driven by a teenager with
a driver's permit. Somebody said if you're a 'good' mother,
your child will 'turn out good'.... somebody thinks a child comes with
directions and a guarantee.
* * *
Somebody said you don't need an education to be a
mother.... somebody never helped a fourth grader
with his math.
* * *
Somebody said you can't love the second child as
much as you love the first.... somebody doesn't have two children.
* * *
Somebody said the hardest part of being a mother
is labor and delivery.... somebody never watched her 'baby'
get on the bus for the first day of kindergarten ... or on a
plane headed for military 'boot camp.'
* * *
Somebody said a mother can stop worrying after her
child gets married....somebody doesn't know that
marriage adds a new son or daughter-in-law to a
mother's heartstrings.
* * *
Somebody said a mother's job is done when her last
child leaves home....somebody never had
grandchildren.
* * *
Somebody said your mother knows you love her, so
you don't need to tell her.... somebody isn't a
mother.
* * *

Soooooo sweeeeet~ I cried the first time I read this. Mummy, love you~ thanks for the email.

My Grade

For Michealmas Half Term:

CHEMISTRY: A1
PHYSICS: A1
MATHS: A1, A2
FURTHER MATHS: A1, A1

NOTE:
Class preformance is graded with A, B, C, D, E, U (same as brunei)
Effort is graded with numbers and 1 being the highest grade.

Urgh...I need to show more effort in Statistics, but how?

25th October 2008

I finish my prep~ Yeay... I can now enjoy my half term to the fullest... (erm... not really...)

I didn’t have any specific plan for that day. Zye went to the London’s tomb. I chose not to. The other ex-PTEB-ians seemed to have their own plan already; all except me and Ili. So we ended up shopping together from 1pm till almost 7pm. Nothing much to say actually, it’s just that we saw this restaurant called “Angus Steak House”. Wah...ada jua word Brunei di sini. xD The name fits really well. Don’t you think so? Still don’t get it? Figure out yourself~

We ate at Subway. Here was where Ili looked bangang when coincidentally we met her friends there. To me, she seemed surprised. She said she was just messaging one of them and puff, there they were.

O yeah, Ili, if I somehow addicted to subway, it’s your fault...... =P Hahaha.... Nadalah~ JK. =)

Thanks for accompanying me.

24 October 2008

Half term break starts now~ and it's Zawani’s birthday~

“Zawani, you’re turning 18... Happy birthday. Don’t spend too much during half term, k?” - Akmal

Later that day, in the train, she replied:
“Spend too much?? Ko pun baik hati2. London ani mahal kali ah. What can I do? Hehe.. thanks for the greeting! In return, I help u carry your sleeping bag tadi. Hehe..”

Of course I replied: “Help me carry it again once in London. Ok2? Thank you~ =P”
Hahaha.... Taking advantage of her kindness. xD

Next story, I made my own history that night; I lost 2 things in 1 day... 1 night... within 1 hour!! I know... How careless of me. It’s my own fault I lost them in the first place. I lost my wallet and later the police report sheet. =S

“Jap Ili aa...” was my first reaction after realizing my wallet has gone missing. I searched my pocket and bag. I traced back my step and was disappointed to find nothing.

After reporting it to the warden, I went to the police station accompanied by Des and 2 other male students to make a police report. I was really scared. I didn’t dare to even call my mom. I asked Kaka to do it for me.

Just a few blocks from Brunei Hall, that was when I realized I dropped the report. Careless jua eyh...! But fortunately, Des and I found it lying on the sidewalk.

Des, you keep it from now on. I might lose it again. I’m positive about that.

Mummy blocked all my debit/atm cards for security purposes. I can only collect the replacement once I get back to Oswestry.

Better yet, Zaw, obviously I won’t spend too much this half term... You’re the one should be careful. Have some self control against temptation. :P

Still in Brunei??

hahaha...yeap. I'm still in Brunei. My flight has been postponed to 8th September. I'll be leaving by then. huhu... I miss my PTE-classmates already... =S

Miss the "5-min walk (or occasionally, run)". Running from one block to another. Climbing stairs. Trying to be in class before the next bell rings. A little exercise to complete a fully-scheduled day of a sixth former. I miss that. And also, the slow-moving traffic. hahaha... wth??

Anyway, to all Muslim,

Hidden Meaning of My Name

NOR AKMALIAH
You are very intuitive and wise. You understand the world better than most people.You also have a very active imagination. You often get carried away with your thoughts.You are prone to a little paranoia and jealousy. You sometimes go overboard in interpreting signals.
You are well rounded, with a complete perspective on life.You are solid and dependable. You are loyal, and people can count on you.At times, you can be a bit too serious. You tend to put too much pressure on yourself.
You are wild, crazy, and a huge rebel. You're always up to something.You have a ton of energy, and most people can't handle you. You're very intense.
You definitely are a handful, and you're likely to get in trouble. But your kind of trouble is a lot of fun.
You are usually the best at everything ... you strive for perfection. You are confident, authoritative, and aggressive. You have the classic "Type A" personality.
You are a seeker of knowledge, and you have learned many things in your life. You are also a keeper of knowledge - meaning you don't spill secrets or spread gossip.
People sometimes think you're snobby or aloof, but you're just too deep in thought to pay attention to them.
You are confident, self assured, and capable. You are not easily intimidated.
You master any and all skills easily. You don't have to work hard for what you want.
You make your life out to be exactly how you want it. And you'll knock down anyone who gets in your way!
You are relaxed, chill, and very likely to go with the flow.
You are light hearted and accepting. You don't get worked up easily.
Well adjusted and incredibly happy, many people wonder what your secret to life is.
You tend to be pretty tightly wound. It's easy to get you excited... which can be a good or bad thing.
You have a lot of enthusiasm, but it fades rather quickly. You don't stick with any one thing for very long.
You have the drive to accomplish a lot in a short amount of time. Your biggest problem is making sure you finish the projects you start.
You are truly an original person. You have amazing ideas, and the power to carry them out.Success comes rather easily for you... especially in business and academia.
Some people find you to be selfish and a bit overbearing. You're a strong person.

You got mail

Acceptance letter is here...

Yes, it's here. Just came in last Thursday morning. I'll be going to Oswestry School, Shropshire. Boarding school (Full). Will I be able to handle it? Will I survive? Will I be able to cope on my own? Those questions can only be answered in 1 or 2 months time.

Moving on, school starts on the 9th of September. Flight? We will be informed once confirmed. If you ask me, it must be before school starts or else we will surely miss the first day of school. Am I right?

PTEB, I'm back

Went to PTEB in the afternoon. Zal told me that we had to come for a visit to MD. Something to do with Roadshow. I can't mention anymore beyond that, because the trip was cancelled. Last minute!

Anyway, I had a great time there, meeting my friends, doing a bit of catching up and vaining. I also witnessed a fight. A fight over chocolate. Hahaha... Guys, it's enough for everyone. Don't worry. Luckily, no injury was reported. Pewh... Hey, I don't want to be responsible for that. Lalalala *walk away* XD

For now, I can only share these two pictures. The rest, I'll post again some other time.

Medical Check

yeap2..yesterday was torture day. From 2pm till 4pm running around here and there. Passed from one department to another. From one building to another. ... Okay, okay... I was exagurating. It wasn't that bad. Just tiring, that's all.

first went to the: CARDIOLOGY >> RADIOLOGY >> taking sample for LAB TEST >> EYE

Almost every nurse at the eye department asked about Mummy. Wah, My, you're famous. xD Yes, she used to be a regular patient there. But now, Alhamdulillah, she's getting better than ever. Proud of you, My. You managed to go through all.=)

Then, balik... By the time almost at the check out point,

AKMAL : Dy, 'hearing' nie inda payah kah?
DADDY : Kana tick kan? Yang kana tick saja lah.
AKMAL : Tapi ani be-tick.
DADDY : Iya wah??

Turn around and find another parking. Opss... thought we're done. Then again, there was one more department to visit in Ripas - ENT department.

After that, off we went to Kiarong for "Mantoux test result". What is that?? Don't ask me. I didn't know and still don't. There, I was conversing with the doctor while the other was torturing me. Hahaha... Kidding...

Hey, read the conversation below.

DOCTOR 1 : Don't worry, inda sakit ni.
DOCTOR 2 : Tahan aa.. sakit sikit ja ni,
AKMAL : Aits, mana satu lurus nie? Seorang cakap sakit, seorang cakap inda. Bowh, ikut mana satu nie?

Their points contradicting one another. Don't you think so? And even if it hurts, I couldn't do anything... If I didn't take it then, there will be time when I HAVE to take it. You agree?

Neway, this morning, I had my dental check and all my urine sample sent back to Ripas for analysis. Daddy was like, "Elah... adakah ngantar time my b'day. Inda dapat hari lain kah?" (Haha.. Sorry Dy.)

Tomorrow, going to Kiarong again for the result.
